- Be freshly showered without any fragrance products, wear light-colored loose clothing, avoid excessive movement and heat
- Eat garlic, but not bananas, during mosquito season
- Take one Vitamin B1 tablet a day April through October; add a B Complex vitamin each day during high mosquito season
- Use citronella products – soap to shower with, essential oil (especially Java Citronella) to apply to skin, burn candles or incense made with citronella oil
- My personal favorite: put 2/3 vanilla extract (the real one, not synthetic vanillin) and 1/3 water in a spray bottle and spritz your exposed skin. Alternatively, you can use a healthy oil (olive, almond, avocado) – this might make it longer lasting. Either way, you’ll smell good to yourself and most people, but not the mosquitos!
